Georgia’s Career Clusters allow students to choose an area of interest in high school from 17 different clusters. At West Forsyth High School, we are taking a unique approach to this by showcasing two pathways our school has traditionally offered and combining them into a new career academy called the Sports & Entertainment Communications Academy (SEC ACADEMY). Students take classes tailored to their cluster, either Sports & Entertainment Marketing Pathway and/or Audio-Video Technology Pathway, which helps them navigate their way to greater success – no matter what they choose to do after high school graduation. The cluster will integrate the curriculum from core Literature and Social Studies academic classes. The aim of the program is to show students the relevance of what they’re learning in the classroom, whether they want to attend a two-year college, a four-year university or go straight into the world of work. Project based learning will be at the core of what students participate in during and outside of the classroom.
